King 2B is 7 3/8 " bell not 7 3/4 " bell !
You're correct! Thanks for spotting this and apologies for the error :)
Nice to hear the influences of Art Pepper and Paul Desmond above Charlie Parker ...
I get that this video was about the intermediate level. Yamaha trumpets, but Yamaha still makes a 6335 and 6345
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The Backun sounds terrific. I would love to have that for my classical playing. Fantastic value for money.
I kind of prefer the Gurda, but they are both BOSS mouthpieces. Thanks for your video!
Thanks for watching!
Yeah for me personally I definitely feel like I can do more with a reverse lead pipe compared to the standard
I normally like medium bore trombone, but I had a 3B Silver Sonic, and the lead Tromboe had a 2B sSlver Sonic. I really enjoyed that horn and playing with the llead.
Hola algo importante, tienen la misma medida el orificio para las boquillas ??
Excellent Simon fabulous horn. You can’t beat Selmer they’ve got there own distinctive sound. I remember buying the tenor version for a school band Zi was teaching in Nottingham. Th head generously coughed up the cash so we could have it. You get Simon or see it goes to a good home. Another fine video from you both. God bless. !! Bill. Uk 🎷🎷🎷
Couldn't agree more!
I always see clarinetists getting the original but I wonder how classic Ishimori would play on clarinet. To me this direct tightening screw seems more interesting. Also I think sounded better here on sax.
Thank you for this! I know I’m 8 years late, but what is your main or favorite c trumpet?
The proper answer is: no you can't. Maybe as a super professional player you are able to produce some quiet sounds but not as a beginner. I've checked. Ukulele or guitar quiet but normal play (mute srumming) and fingering is about 40-50db, and it's possible to practice 35-45 db the clarinet starts at 60db with low notes and soft read and then is only louder especially register notes. Normal practise is about 70-80db. When I play/practice uke/guitar late evening my wife never came, with clarinet always begging me to stop. Clarinet is NOT quiet.
Drake Sanborn piece beats theme all 😊 really hand made piece with dedication and love by Aaron Drake not just CNC random piece
Yeah, the 43 definitely sounds crispier and brighter than the 37 from what I'm hearing
Very clever little Bass Clarinet and Soprano duet, liked it!
how does theJiggs model 2b compare
By far one of the best torns I've ever played was a 8310z
Nice review! It would also be interesting to have a comparison with the plastics beginner models of Buffet and Uebel, which have a really similar price.
Liz just gets right down to it! Bring her back please. Teaching just as clear, efficient and lovely as her playing.
Working on it!
@@dawkesmusic Great! Thank you!
Thank you!!❤
I'll take two! :)
Nice vibrato!!
Super
Definitely altered my facial muscles over time
I played for years on a Drake Rollover (which is more smooth than the Crossover) and I loved it, but just broke it badly before a concert 😢. How do you compare the Dr. Crossover with a Metal Berg and Larsen?
3.5+ for X15E and X25E? Isn't too heavy?
Great review but try them for yourself. Pay a bit more extra and you can get a professional ebonite mouthpiece from Selmer which can go with the player when he or she upgrades clarinet in the future. And of course get your teacher to help you. Thank you once again. Alastair and SAM for another fine video. Bill. Uk
Very lovely playing! These will be amazing for those of us willing to wait for them to depreciate and hit the used market. I recall when every Ref 54 tenor was listed for $6K, and now sellers can't give them away for $3,800. So used is the way to go for bargain savvy shoppers.
Which is easier to play? I play piano better than flute, but I also play open hole flute. However, I find it tiring to play open hole flute. Is closed hole better?
Fantastic. Dawkes are A1. Bought a Selmer Signature clarinet from them and it was delivered to my house within 24 hours I have also bought other goods from them during the year. I have bought repair materials from them over the years having being recommended by the late, great Ted Planas. I wish Dawkes so much success with their new venture. God bless you all. Bill. Uk 🙏🎷🎷
Thanks so much for your continued custom and support. All the best!
Thanks. Simon you make anything sound good even a chair leg if given one. Love your playing. God bless you and yous. Bill. Uk 🎷🎷🎷
Thanks for listening :)
KT!
Is there any diference besides the color to the black Jumbo Java?
Thank you Alastair Another great video. You make a great sound with this relatively inexpensive clarinet. God bless. Bill. Uk 🎶
You two are great reviewers. Liz plays so well and her comments are insightful without a word wasted. More Liz reviews please!
Man, i LOVE these sort of videos, i play so manny instraments, i absorbe the information, it feels forfilling and satisfying to hear your questions answered without even asking them, i wish these videos where longer, theres manny instrament repair videos on youtube, but i love the professinal level here, the confidence makes you feel relaxed, these guys know what there doing, and do it well, i watched a guy fixing a flute, said hes a professinal, but how manny times i chringed in that video, it was so so bad, no blute tape, tapping on parts to show what hes talking about, i was like AHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, and it was a customers flute, oh my gosh, if i sent any of my instraments to you guys, i would feel that its in good hands, and that its basicly going to the spa, for a beautiful revitalising pamper, i would have FULL confidence in you guys to take care of my prizzed possetions, thank you for being so passinate about your craft, and for having such a level of finesse, the world would be a verry quiet place without you guys doing the work you do, i dont think you know the importance to this job, music is such a needed thing, just a single note can do so much, and you are the people who keep the sound going, to all people who play an instrament and have these people service them, we should all look up to them like they are a god, Abi here was so confident and spoke well, i really enjoiyed listning to you Abi, you shine brighter than that brass, thank you EVER so much for taking the time to make these videos, its ever so pleasing, kindest regards to you all.
I have watched both videos of Simon trying the supreme and the signature tenors, hands down for me was the Signature..the supreme is very desirable right now but I think most people are too focused on it and not realizing how great the signature tenor is.
Iown an 875EXHG and a yani 901 sold my serie III I play the 901 regularly Found the 82 too bright and buzzy None of them have the roundness of my old MK VI (HAD TO SELL BOO HOO ) 875 is greatm but I prefer the 1 piece horn 901 for all around work
Mike is fantastic. He gets it right when he said the sterling bell is not for everybody. But in the right hands it’s something else. You do kind of have to have the right personality for it. And you need the right setting for it as well. But a good player can pretty much get away with playing it in every genre of music except classical probably. I play a silversonic 2b and 3b. For my use, they’re all I’ll ever need.
I just started playing alto sax and was wondering why I couldn’t get a jazz sound I see why now,
Is it just me or does the Yamaha Custom 82ZR sound clearer, more in tune, more focused, id better?!🤷🏿♂️😂
For the passage you played, could you not have used the left hand C key? Unless I missed something, you don't need to start on that right C key, do you?
I look forward to your videos 👋
Glad you like them!
Can the slides be interchanged with both models or is one style of slide just for one model and the other slide for the other model? Would I be able to take the dual bore lightweight slide that comes on the 62 and put it on the 52?
Thank you very much for your superb and well informative video.
You are welcome!
1:12 5:28 9:32
Thank you
A video on the difference between java and jumbo java would be great if possiblemfor the future!
The latest models from Selmer are great instruments so I hope they won’t get rid of the two older models. Stephen Williamson from the Chicago Symphony says that the Signsture is the best clarinet for him with great intonation and projection, although initially he found it not so easy. The Recital is as Alastair describes it large and wide, but has a flexibility like no other French clarinet I have ever played. It should appeal to “English. Style” players as feels like playing a Peter Eaton Elite or an old 1010 model. Alastair demonstrates these instruments beautifully and if I was interested I would travel to try them at Dawkes. Selmer make great clarinets for classical playing as well as jazz! It’s an “urban myth” that they are for jazz only! Thank you Alastair for another great video produced by Dawkes Music. God bless you all. Bill. Uk
Thanks Bill!
YAS 62 The toyota of saxophones.
That just got a big laugh in the Dawkes office ;)
